Master Degree in Earth Sciences
The master's degree of Earth Sciences, Planets and Environments is co-accredited by both by the University Claude Bernard Lyon 1 and the ENS of Lyon. Our students are trained in Earth Sciences with special focuses on Experiments, Fieldwork, Geophysic, Geochemistry and Numerical modelling.
Based upon their choice, two specialized tracks are offered to students:
- Physics and chemistry of the Earth and Planets - Understanding the internal structure, dynamics and evolution of the Earth and Planets
- Paleontology, sedimentology and paleoenvironments - Understanding the origin of life and its evolution and documenting the dynamics of past climates
Overall organization of the curriculum
- Semester 1 - Basic theoritical skills
- Semester 2 - Progressive spcecialisation
- Semester 3 - One specialiazed track to choose:
- Physics and chemistry of the Earth and Planets - T&P
- Paleontology, sedimentology and paleoenvironments - PSP
- Semester 4 - Research Internship (5 to 6 months)
The 1st year of the master's degree is open to students with a BsC (180 ETCS) and trained in Geology, Physics, Chemistry, Maths or Biology. High grades throughout the previous curriculum are requested. More on the 1st year of the master's degree.
The 2nd year of the master's degree is open to students with 240 ETCS and trained in Geology, Physics, Chemistry, Maths or Biology. High grades throughout the previous curriculum are requested. More on the 2nd year of the master's degree.
