Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research scientist to join the ERC project CRUSLID based at the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon, France. The project CRUSLID, which started on October 1st 2021, aims at determining the present-day nature and structure of the crusts and the physical and geological processes leading to crust formation and evolution on stagnant-lid planets.
On terrestrial bodies that do not show plate tectonics, lithosphere cooling is a major source of stress. Lithosphere cooling depends on the distribution in heat sources vertically, in between the mantle and crust, as well as laterally, in between the different geological provinces. The aim of the post-doc is to investigate the link between observed seismicity and the build-up of stress by lithosphere cooling.
The position is based at the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon, in the Laboratoire de Géologie de Lyon, Terre, Planètes, Environnement, Lyon, France. Applicants should hold a PhD in geophysics and have a solid background in continuum mechanics as well as demonstrable scientific initiative.
Applicants should submit a cover letter, CV, research statement, graduate transcript and contact information for three references to Chloé Michaut (chloe [dot] michautens-lyon [dot] fr). The position is open until filled.
Please mention in your application the website or mailing list where you found the offer and the reference Postdoc1-CRUSLID.
